Given what afterschool programs can do for youth and our nation's
focus on the needs of children, you might think that afterschool programs
exist in every community. They don't. Nearly two-thirds of parents
report difficulty in finding quality, affordable programs. Twice as
many elementary and middle school parents want afterschool programs
as are currently available.
Working in conjunction with the Central Texas Afterschool Network
(CTAN), Your Community Guide has posted and maintained information
on local afterschool providers since 2005. We currently track Afterschool
programming for 11 school districts in the Central Texas/Austin Metro
area. We define Afterschool programs as ones that either offer transportation
or are held onsite at a specific school campus they serve.
